Your Key Responsibilities

Summary of The Role   The Accountant plays a key role in managing the company’s financial operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining compliance, and supporting the overall financial health of the business. This position is responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting activities, preparing financial reports, managing reconciliations, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes.  The role requires strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Working closely with senior leadership and internal stakeholders, the Accountant supports business operations through accurate financial management, process improvements, and proactive financial insights.  Operating with a high level of ownership, the role requires a proactive and results-driven approach, with a focus on maintaining financial accuracy, improving processes, and supporting strategic business decisions.  Role Responsibilities 
  • Managing day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable and accounts receivable. 
  • Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. 
  • Performing bank, supplier, and balance sheet reconciliations. 
  • Supporting payroll processing and ensuring financial records remain accurate. 
  • Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management. 
  • Preparing and lodging statutory and tax-related documentation where required. 
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting month-end and year-end closing activities. 
  • Assisting with audits and liaising with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions. 
  • Monitoring financial transactions to ensure compliance with company policies and relevant regulations. 
  • Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes and internal controls. 
  • Supporting management with financial analysis and reporting to assist business decision-making. 
  • Providing ad hoc financial and administrative support as required. 

Required Skill and Qualifications

Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience  
  • Previous experience as an Accountant or in a similar finance role (5+ years preferred). 
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting. 
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and month-end processes. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experience using accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems. 
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy. 
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent) is preferred. 
  • Experience working in a UK-facing finance environment is advantageous.

Work Environment 
  • General Work Hours: Between 12.30PM – 10.30PM (WFH) Sri Lanka Time – 45hrs/week.
  • Location: Remote WFH + Occasional Meets at our Colombo 5 office – Sri Lanka.
