Full-Stack Engineer

Summary of The Role The Full-Stack Engineer is responsible for designing, building and deploying production web applications across the full stack, from the user interface to APIs, databases and cloud infrastructure. This role supports operational teams by turning their requirements into straightforward, usable software, including document storage, background processing, workflows that wait for human input, and applications that integrate AI models or APIs. The ideal candidate will be pragmatic, detail-oriented and proactive, with strong engineering and communication skills. The role requires sound judgment on software architecture and technology choices, a high level of care when handling sensitive data, and the ability to use AI development tools while taking responsibility for code quality, testing and security. Role Responsibilities

• Design, build, test and deploy production web applications, taking features from requirement through to live service.
• Develop frontend and backend functionality using modern web frameworks, APIs and databases.
• Deploy, run and maintain applications on a major cloud platform (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud).
• Build secure document storage and retrieval, and implement background processing for long-running or scheduled work.
• Design and implement workflows that can pause and wait for human input, such as review, approval or correction, and resume reliably.
• Integrate AI models or APIs into applications, ensuring outputs are dependable, appropriately reviewed and handled in line with data protection requirements.
• Make and explain sound architecture and technology stack decisions that fit the problem and avoid unnecessary complexity.
• Use AI development tools effectively to accelerate delivery, while remaining fully responsible for code quality, testing and security.
• Work with operational stakeholders to understand their needs and translate operational requirements into straightforward, usable software.
• Handle sensitive data and documents securely and in accordance with company policies and applicable regulations.
• Write and maintain clear technical documentation, including architecture decisions, so systems can be supported by others.
• Monitor application performance and reliability, and investigate and resolve production issues promptly.
• Review code, share knowledge and contribute to good engineering practice within the team.
• Provide support for ad-hoc technical projects and other tasks as required. Essential Skills, Knowledge & Experience
• Proven experience building and deploying production web applications.
• Strong frontend and backend development skills, including modern web frameworks, APIs and databases.
• Practical experience with a major cloud platform such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with document storage, background processing and workflows that may wait for human input.
• Experience integrating AI models or APIs into applications.
• Sound judgment about software architecture and choosing an appropriate technology stack.
• Comfort using AI development tools while taking responsibility for code quality, testing and security.
• Ability to translate operational requirements into straightforward, usable software.
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with healthcare applications, sensitive data, document processing or case management systems is a plus.
• Adhere to confidentiality and not discuss business matters with others.

Work Environment 

• General Work Hours: 1.30PM – 10.30PM (WFH) Sri Lanka Time – 45hrs/week.
• Location: Remote WFH + Occasional Meets at our Colombo 5 office – Sri Lanka.
