Your Key Responsibilities

Summary of The Role  The Accounts Receivable Executive plays a key role in supporting the finance function by ensuring accurate and timely customer billing, cash collection, and allocation of receipts. This position is responsible for maintaining an accurate and well-controlled debtor ledger, proactively managing outstanding debt, and supporting the month-end close process. Working closely with the UK Financial Controller, Local Authorities, the NHS, and other customers, the role requires strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to resolving payment queries and securing timely collections. The role requires a high level of ownership, persistence, and organisation, with the ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and maintain accurate financial records while supporting the wider finance team. The successful candidate will work UK business hours and contribute to improving cash collection and financial processes.  Role Responsibilities
  • Raising accurate and timely customer invoices, ensuring billing is complete, correctly coded, and supported by the required documentation and approvals.
  • Managing the aged debtor ledger, regularly reviewing outstanding balances, prioritising overdue debt, and taking proactive action to secure payment.
  • Reconciling bank transactions relating to customer receipts and allocating payments accurately and promptly to the correct customer accounts and invoices.
  • Maintaining accurate customer accounts and investigating and resolving unallocated cash, credit notes, disputed invoices, short payments, and other Accounts Receivable queries.
  • Communicating professionally and persistently with Local Authorities, the NHS, and other customers regarding outstanding invoices and delayed payments.
  • Managing the Accounts Receivable inbox and responding to customer and internal queries within agreed timescales, escalating issues where appropriate and keeping the Financial Controller informed of significant or long-outstanding debts.
  • Supporting the month-end close process, including Accounts Receivable reconciliations, aged debtor reviews, cash receipt allocation, debtor provisions, and other reporting requirements.
  • Assisting with annual external audits by preparing requested sales, debtor, and cash receipt samples, organising supporting documentation, and responding to auditor queries.
  • Maintaining clear and organised supporting documentation and an appropriate audit trail for invoices, receipts, credit notes, customer communications, and adjustments.
  • Ensuring compliance with internal financial controls and maintaining the confidentiality of sensitive resident and customer information.
  • Identifying opportunities to improve Accounts Receivable processes, reduce errors, strengthen cash collection, and increase efficiency through effective use of Excel, automation, and AI in line with company policy.

  • At least 2 years’ relevant experience in Accounts Receivable, Credit Control, or a similar finance role, ideally within a multi-site organisation or a business with a complex customer base.

  • Strong experience in cash collection and credit control, with the ability to pursue overdue debt persistently while maintaining professional customer relationships.
